Rhiannon couldn't sleep last night; she felt lots of pressure and was very uncomfortable. So we went into the hospital this morning (upon docs orders) to get things checked out. They did a bunch of tests and monitoring and determined that she has gone into preterm labor. They tried a few things to stop the contractions which didn't work but have now gone to magnesium sulfalte (which is the last resort) and it seems to be working. The contractions are much more infrequent. She is feeling a lot better now and they are going to allow her to eat dinner. They are also giving her steroids for the babies lungs to get a developmental jumpstart. They are monitoring everything closely and say that the babies seem very healthy. Now we just wait and see how the magnesium works. They would like to hold off until saturday at the earliest, since that gives the steroids the necessary time to kick in. But anything could happen: It could be tomorrow or in two weeks....we just don't know yet.

we are at the Santa Barbara hospital instead of the Goleta one because it is preterm.
